Makes 8 dumplings / Difficulty – easy / 10 minutes prep and 10 minutes cooking time.
Ingredients
300g self raising flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
15g of butter
150ml of water
About 300ml of oil for frying
Method
- Sieve the flour and salt into a mixing bowl and stir in the salt. Cut the butter into small cubes and add to the flour.
- Work the mixture adding a little of the water at a time and kneed into a dough. The dough is finished when it has an elastic quality. You have added too much water if it is sticky.
- Divide into small balls about 5cm in diameter, then flatten the balls so that they are about 2cm thick.
- Fry them in 2-3 batches. Heat the oil in a small saucepan over a low-medium heat and fry the dumplings until they are golden brown all over- about 2 1/2 minutes each side. When they are ready take our and place them on some kitchen towel to absorb the excess oil.
